Years ago, when I first learned about Red Hook Crit, it sounded too good to be true. A tough, underground track bike race right here in Brooklyn. As an amateur athlete and Brooklynite, I was sold.

Years later, as RHC became a worldwide sensation, I discovered I wanted more than to join, cheer from the sidelines, and support the race directors (now close friends). And my team at hatchmap felt the same way.

First, we developed a spectator app. Yep, show up March 29th and you can use it to see circuit times, look up data, and find out who’s in the lead. We developed it in our Greenpoint office, and traveled the world to bring it to Barcelona and Milan, too.

This year, our sponsorship is helping enable the first-ever RHC Women’s race. We love doing our part to level the playing field, and we can’t wait to cheer on the women.

Sponsoring RHC is one of the best decisions I’ve made as a business owner. It’s great to be at the forefront of race technology, marrying two passions: software and bike racing. It’s great to attend the race, gaze at the spectators, and watch them all glance down at their iPhones right after the pack swoops by. It’s great to not just believe small businesses should support local community, but to act on that support.

Bikes. Racing. Sports equality. If some of this is resonating for you, drop us a line. We’d love to hear from you. And if you need mobile or web development (or know someone that does), keep us in mind. You’re just the people we’d love to help.

Hope to see you on March 29!
